China and the United States have agreed to study the establishment of a cooperation mechanism to promote bilateral trade and investment, and to continue leveraging existing consultation frameworks, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The ministry's announcement came after Chinese and US delegations held candid, in-depth, and constructive exchanges in Paris from March 15 to 16, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.
Speaking at a weekly news conference on Thursday, He Yongqian, a spokeswoman for the ministry, said the two sides discussed economic and trade issues of mutual concern — including tariff arrangements, the promotion of bilateral trade and investment, and the implementation of existing consultation outcomes.
The commerce official said they have reached new common understandings and agreed to maintain ongoing communication.
The two sides also agreed to enhance dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, and advance practical cooperation to support the steady and sound development of bilateral economic and trade relations, she added.
