Beijing prosecutors have prioritized protecting women's rights in sensitive civil areas such as marriage, family, personal and property rights, aiming to better leverage their prosecutorial and supervisory roles to safeguard women's legitimate interests.

In 2015, prosecutors across Beijing handled 2,690 cases related to women's rights, focusing on key issues such as domestic violence, wage recovery and the protection of rural women's land rights, according to a statement released Friday by the Beijing People's Procuratorate.

While ensuring the quality of case handling, prosecutors in the capital have also simplified application procedures and streamlined channels to make it easier for women to defend their rights, the procuratorate said.

For instance, Beijing has established a fast-track service for cases involving women's rights. For those unable to visit in person, options such as door-to-door service and online submission are available, it said, adding that guidance on completing applications is provided via phone or WeChat.

Prosecutors have also strengthened collaboration with organizations including women's federations, civil affairs departments, and human resources and social security agencies. These efforts include timely follow-ups with women involved in cases to assess the implementation of their rights and their living conditions. Authorities have also coordinated to address subsequent challenges, ensuring that the effects of judicial protection are sustained.

This approach aims to achieve comprehensive and continuous protection of women's rights, the procuratorate emphasized.

Additionally, prosecutors have produced and distributed manuals on protecting women's rights and combating domestic violence, created short videos to raise public awareness of the rule of law, and conducted lectures in communities to foster a culture of respect for women.
