Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pradeep Kumar Rawat, India's outgoing ambassador to China, on Thursday, stating that Beijing is ready to work with New Delhi to consolidate the hard-won momentum of improving ties, as both sides stressed the broader global significance of stable bilateral relations.

Wang commended Rawat for his contributions to the development of China-India relations, noting that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, bilateral relations have returned to a steady track of improvement and development.

He said that as two major neighbors and leading emerging economies, China and India share far more common interests than differences, adding that global modernization cannot be achieved without the modernization of the two countries.

China is willing to work with India on the basis that the two countries are opportunities for each other's development rather than threats, and partners rather than competitors, Wang said.

He called for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation across various fields, safeguarding the common interests of the Global South, and strengthening multilateral coordination through mechanisms such as BRICS.

Rawat thanked the Chinese side for its strong support during his tenure, affirming that the stable development of India-China relations serves the interests of both countries and carries global significance.

Amid a turbulent international landscape, Rawat stated that India is willing to strengthen coordination with China, step up high-level exchanges, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance multilateral coordination to jointly safeguard world peace, stability and development.
