SJTU unveils university history museum ahead of founding anniversary

In celebration of the 130th anniversary of the school's founding, Shanghai Jiao Tong University opened a history museum dedicated to preserving and promoting the school's rich history and cultural spirit, at its Xuhui campus on Friday. 

This museum will serve as a new platform for SJTU to showcase its traditions and achievements, as well as a place for both domestic and international visitors to learn about the institution.

Covering a total area of 3,100 square meters, the university history museum, and its associated thematic exhibition halls, include exhibits on the university's history, technological achievements, alumni, Party history, heroic figures, and a VR experience space.

The museum offers a comprehensive view of the school's cultural traditions, educational accomplishments, and social contributions. The museum also houses over 600 archives, artifacts, and rare documents, along with more than 1,000 photographs and over 80 audio-visual materials, many of which are being displayed to the public for the first time.

The university noted that its Xuhui campus makes SJTU the county's only institution of higher education to maintain its original founding location and educational site — unchanged across three centuries.
