HONG KONG -- InnoEX and the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), two flagship technology fairs in Hong Kong, kicked off here on Monday, spotlighting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and cutting-edge electronic products.

The twin expos will run for four days, featuring more than 100 events and drawing a total of 2,800 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions.

InnoEX serves not only as an annual showcase for Hong Kong's innovation and technology (I&T) strengths, but also as an international platform connecting startups with investors, research with industry, and local enterprises with markets at home and abroad, Sun Dong, secretary for innovation, technology and industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, said at the opening ceremony on Tuesday.

Sophia Chong, executive director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said that the InnoEX has grown into an iconic flagship platform.

The expo brings together world-class innovators, research and development centers and tech pioneers, attracting an increasing number of exhibitors to display breakthrough innovations and forge strategic partnerships, Chong said.

Gerd Müller, director general of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, said that he looked forward to partnering with Hong Kong to translate cutting-edge technologies into productivity, so that more innovative achievements can benefit industries and societies around the world.

Under the theme of "Innovate, Automate and Elevate," this year's InnoEX focuses on five key sectors, including AI+, robotics and low-altitude economy.

As a leading global electronics trading platform, the electronics fair this year brings together exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, with Australia, France, Macao and Thailand participating for the first time.

The fair showcases innovative technologies and electronic products spanning smart home solutions, health tech gadgets and smart pet products. Some 60 products are set to make their global debut at the fair.
