Former China Mobile Internet chief under investigation

Hong Xiaoqin, former chairman and general manager of China Mobile Internet Co, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, according to a statement released on Thursday by the country's top anti-corruption watchdog.

The probe is being conducted by investigators dispatched by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection to the company, along with officials from the supervision commission in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region. No further details were disclosed.

Public records show that Hong, a senior engineer born in 1964, spent decades working within the China Mobile system. He held multiple posts, including deputy general manager of China Mobile's Guangdong branch and general manager of its Inner Mongolia branch.

Established in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, in 2015, China Mobile Internet Co is a specialized subsidiary of China Mobile focused on internet-related businesses. It was previously known as the China Mobile Internet Base.
