During a seminar at the China Cultural Centre in Sydney on April 17, award-winning actress Qin Hailu, who first performed her role during its 2010 production, said she has grown and matured with the work over the years.

"It's about connections of home, family, and country," she said.

It's great that we're able to bring that here to Sydney and beyond, allowing overseas Chinese communities to experience the history and heritage, Qin said.

"Its themes also form a global language that speaks to non-Chinese audiences," she added.

"Hopefully, we can help plant seeds of better understanding through all this."
