Wang Yi set for Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar trip

China's Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar between Wednesday and Sunday this week.
During his visit to Cambodia, Wang and Defense Minister Dong Jun will attend the first meeting of the China-Cambodia 2+2 strategic dialogue mechanism for foreign and defense ministers.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar are all friendly neighbors of China and that China looks forward to using the trip as an opportunity to advance the implementation of common understandings reached by the countries' leaders, deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation, deliver greater benefits to their peoples, and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.
Regarding the first meeting of the China-Cambodia 2+2 strategic dialogue mechanism, Guo said Wang and Dong will discuss bilateral relations, political and security affairs, defense and security cooperation, and the international and regional landscape with their Cambodian counterparts. Wang is also set to meet with other members of Cambodia's leadership during his visit.
Guo added that China is ready to work with Cambodia to make good use of the strategic communication platform, better coordinate high-quality development and high-level security, and advance prosperity, revitalization and long-term stability in both countries.
