ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Wednesday that he hopes the United States and Iran will continue to observe the ceasefire and conclude a comprehensive peace deal for a permanent end to the conflict.

In a statement posted on social media, he thanked US President Donald Trump for accepting a request to extend the ceasefire "to allow ongoing diplomatic efforts to take their course."

Sharif said Pakistan would continue its efforts toward a negotiated settlement of the conflict.
