On Thursday, Chongqing University celebrated International Chinese Language Day and World Book Day with a series of cultural events to promote the global spread of the Chinese language and foster a love of reading.
Held at one of the university's libraries, the events drew over 70 participants, including international students from various countries. They featured themed performances and reading exchanges that facilitated cross-cultural dialogue and understanding.
One session focused on sharing resources between Chinese and international study platforms. Participants engaged in bilingual reading exchanges, with international students reciting classic prose.
Wu Jiaming, a junior at the university's Meishi Film Academy, and Jeerapairojkul Supatcha from Bangkok, Thailand, a postgraduate majoring in International Chinese Education, discussed the practical application of the Tao Te Ching in daily life.
Later, university librarians introduced attendees to authoritative literature databases from China and abroad, demonstrating AI-powered search techniques and offering guidance on the efficient use of library resources.
A highlight of the event was an intangible cultural heritage experience where students painted and flew kites, offering them an up-close encounter with the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
The celebration concluded with the awarding of honorary certificates to students who excelled in performances and reading exchanges.
