China vows to protect Chinese companies against US export control bills

China will take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its companies, said the Ministry of Commerce on Saturday, warning that a series of export control bills approved by a US congressional committee could disrupt global trade and undermine supply chain stability.

The US House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday passed the Multilateral Alignment of Technology Controls on Hardware (MATCH) Act and other export control measures.

Responding to the development, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce said China has taken note of the situation and reiterated its long-standing opposition to the overuse of national security concepts and the abuse of export control measures.

"If enacted, the relevant legislation will seriously undermine the international economic and trade order and severely disrupt the stability of global semiconductor industrial and supply chains," said the official in a statement.
