chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2026-05-01 07:46

At a UN Security Council meeting on April 30, the DPRK ambassador to the UN rejected Japan's statement on the nuclear issue. The DPRK said Japan, despite being an NPT signatory, seeks nuclear weapons from its allies and promotes revising its "Three Non-Nuclear Principles", calling its stance inconsistent. The ambassador also criticized Japan for ignoring its historical aggression while speaking on nuclear non-proliferation and international peace and security, describing the position as highly ironic.
