Canton Fair closes with record international attendance

The 139th session of the China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, concluded on Tuesday in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, after setting a participation record with international buyers.

As of Monday, 314,000 buyers from 220 countries and regions attended the event, marking a 1.1 percent increase compared to the previous session, according to the fair's organizers. Additionally, the fair received participation from 407 purchasing companies and 154 international business organizations. The fair's reach extended beyond attendees, with live-streamed tours helping buyers abroad view samples and select products online.

Various trade matchmaking activities were also conducted during the fair, providing a bridge for resource matching among global business organizations.

In response to new trends and characteristics in foreign trade development, the fair increased the number of exhibition zones to 179, including nine new sections covering modern tech like smart wearables and display technology.

Amid increasing international instability, the fair serves as a stabilizing force for the smooth operation of global supply chains, organizers said.
