Chinese solar giant Longi Green Energy Technology Co announced on Saturday the successful grid connection and operation of its first energy storage project in Finland.
The project marks a significant milestone in applying integrated solar-plus-storage solutions to high-latitude regions and harsh Nordic climates, it said.
The project is specifically engineered to meet the unique challenges of island power grids and extreme sub-zero temperatures. The system is expected to further enhance the stability of the local electricity system under fluctuating conditions, while strengthening the overall resilience of the local power infrastructure, it said.
By making the power injected into the grid more compatible, the project significantly improves the "grid-friendliness" and consumption efficiency of clean energy, it added.
The Nordic energy market is known for its rigorous standards regarding frequency stability and flexible regulation.
The successful implementation of this project provides valuable experience for future expansion into European and other high-latitude markets worldwide, the company stated in a press release.
The Finland project serves as a model for how Chinese green technology can be customized to solve complex energy challenges in specialized geographical environments, it said.
