The station will feature 15 platforms and 30 tracks across more than 1.3 million square meters, with the main terminal occupying 160,000 square meters.
The six-story building, featuring three levels above and below ground, will combine national railways, regional railways, urban rail transit, and aviation check-in services under one roof.
Shanghai East Railway Station will introduce China's first air-rail transport integration module in a major hub, positioning passengers just 250 meters from railway exits to underground aviation security checkpoints. This connection links with Shanghai Pudong International Airport, located five kilometers away.
Construction remains on schedule for the July 2027 opening. When finished, Shanghai East Railway Station will connect to the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway second phase, the new Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway, and other major lines.
