Concerns voiced

Citizens of Spain's Canary Islands had expressed concern ahead of MV Hondius' arrival.

The World Health Organization's Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus posted a letter on his X account earlier in May.

"I know you are worried," he said, "I know that when you hear the word 'outbreak' and watch a ship sail toward your shores, memories surface that none of us have fully put to rest."
