A woman missing after a pickup truck plunged into a river in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was found dead, local authorities said on Monday morning.

The body was discovered at around 9 am roughly three kilometers downstream from the first water-retaining dam below the crash site in Yongquan village of Luoyang township, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The accident occurred on Saturday night, when a pickup truck carrying 15 people fell into the water while crossing a flooded bridge. Five people survived the crash.

With the latest discovery, the death toll has risen to two, while eight people remain missing.

Rescue teams are continuing search operations and are using water-retaining dams along the river to lower water levels and improve search conditions, according to local authorities.
