Beijing hails WHA's unshakable support for one-China principle

The World Health Assembly has rejected Taiwan-related proposals for the 10th consecutive year, fully demonstrating that "the international community's support for the one-China principle is unshakable", Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

Both the General Committee and the Plenary Session of the 79th WHA rejected a so-called proposal from certain countries to "invite Taiwan to participate in the WHA as an observer", marking the 10th consecutive year that the WHA has rejected such a proposal.

In response, Guo said at a news conference in Beijing that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities' persistent stance on "Taiwan independence" is doomed to fail, and that the political farce of staging provocations for "Taiwan independence" can now end.

"China will ultimately achieve complete reunification, and Taiwan will surely return to the embrace of the motherland," he added.
