International students from 19 countries across 11 universities in Tianjin recently recorded the song I'm Waiting for You in six languages — Chinese, English, Russian, French, Spanish - and Arabic. Their performance extended a warm invitation to visitors worldwide to explore Tianjin, showcasing the city's open and inclusive character.
In the video, international students explore Tianjin, from the Western-style buildings along the Five Avenues during the crabapple blossom season to the dazzling Tianjin Eye at night; from classrooms filled with the sound of reading to the vibrant Luban Workshop where advanced technologies are demonstrated.
Through the lens, the video comprehensively showcases Tianjin's cultural heritage — a fusion of Eastern and Western influences, a blend of ancient and modern elements, and an open-minded approach to diversity — while highlighting the city's distinctive international educational features.
The song has proved popular online.
Choi Hee-jin, a first-year student majoring in China studies at the Confucius Institute of Sunchon National University in South Korea, expressed her excitement: "The scenes in the promotional video showing young people from various countries gathering, interacting, and growing together in Tianjin have allowed me to witness the youthful energy driving the building of a community with a shared future for mankind."
She is determined to pursue further studies in Tianjin and promote good relations in the process.
