Xue Guoquan, who allegedly provided bribes to others, was recently apprehended overseas and repatriated to China, as announced by the country's top anti-corruption watchdog on Monday.

The successful capture and repatriation of Xue were achieved through the joint efforts of the office for fugitive repatriation and asset recovery under the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group, along with the Ministry of Public Security.

This operation involved close cooperation between law enforcement agencies in Hunan province and their international counterparts, according to the National Commission of Supervision.

The commission stated that Xue's case is currently under investigation by the Hunan supervision authority, but no further details have been disclosed.

An official from the office highlighted that this case underscores the nation's strong commitment and intensified efforts to combat bribery, targeting both those who offer and those who accept bribes. The official added that, alongside strengthening firm combat measures, international law enforcement cooperation will also be enhanced to tackle bribery at its roots.
