An agreement between the United States and Iran, regarding the ongoing tensions, is close to being reached, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir told Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday.
During their meeting in Beijing, Munir briefed Wang on the latest developments.
Pakistan is willing to continue making every effort and hopes that China will continue to play its role in the process, Munir said.
Calling Pakistan a qualified mediator trusted by all parties, Wang said China appreciates and supports the country's efforts.
Despite the difficulties, peace will eventually come, he said.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
The two countries have maintained a high level of mutual political trust, practical cooperation, and international coordination, setting an example for state-to-state relations, Wang said.
He said that the Pakistani military has long been an important force in promoting China-Pakistan cooperation, and expressed confidence that it will continue to make new contributions to deepening bilateral traditional friendship.
Munir said the ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China has stood the test of time and has grown even stronger, a fact of which Pakistan is deeply proud.
He said the Pakistani military will continue to fully support the building of a Pakistan-China community with a shared future and the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
