Rainy season brings Guizhou waterfall to thunderous splendor

As Guizhou province enters its rainy season, Huangguoshu Waterfall is at its most powerful and most photogenic.

After days of steady rain across the surrounding area, the falls have surged into a thunderous rush, with the sound of water carrying through the valley. Local hydrological authorities said the waterfall's flow peaked at 224 cubic meters per second on May 20.

The scenic area's high-water season usually runs from May through October, when rain and river levels bring the waterfall to its fullest display.
