China calls for 'just and equitable' global governance

China will work with all countries to achieve greater unity under the banner of multilateralism and promote a more just and equitable global governance system, a spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular news briefing when asked about a high-level United Nations Security Council meeting which was chaired by Foreign Minister Wang Yi at UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday.

Noting that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the People's Republic of China's lawful seat at the United Nations, Mao said that China, as a permanent member of the Security Council, has actively participated in and promoted the cause of the UN.

She added that China will continue to shoulder its responsibilities and follow the right path.
