China on Friday reiterated its position that countries should not interfere in the internal affairs of others, after the United States announced it would designate two Brazilian criminal groups as terrorist organizations.

Asked at a regular news conference about the US move and Brazil's opposition to it, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that China has taken note of the relevant reports.

"China consistently upholds the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs," Mao said.
