China becomes Norway's second-largest seafood export market

Sigmund Bjorgo, China director of the Norwegian Seafood Council, said China has overtaken the United States to become Norway's second-largest seafood export market so far this year.

Back in 2020, China was the 10th-largest market for Norwegian seafood. Last year, it ranked third.

"So I would not be surprised that within a few years, if the growth to China continues, China might become the biggest market for Norwegian seafood quite soon," he said on the sidelines of the 2026 Seafood Expo Asia Pacific in Dalian, Liaoning province.
