Multiple explosions heard in Kyiv

KIEV -- Multiple explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Tuesday, prompting authorities to urge residents to seek shelter, according to local media reports.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air defence systems were operating in response to explosions across the city and urged residents to stay in shelters.

The mayor also said that a nine-story apartment building caught fire following the Russian strikes.
