A record-setting shipment of eight ultra-large quay container cranes recently left Dalian, Liaoning province, on a single specialized vessel bound for ports in Turkiye.

Weighing in at nearly 16,000 tons, the shipment faced great challenges because of the cranes' extraordinary length and height. The vessel defied an industry norm of five to six units per voyage, improving delivery efficiency and reducing logistics costs.

Manufactured by Dalian Huarui Heavy Industry Group, the equipment is custom-made for ports in Turkiye and is expected to raise regional cargo throughput.

Each crane stands 95 meters tall, weighs nearly 1,900 tons, and has a double-box lifting capacity of 65 tons under the spreader, with a total lifting height of 72.5 meters, enabling them to service ultra-large container vessels of 24,000 twenty-foot equivalent units. The cranes are also built to withstand earthquakes above Magnitude 9.
