Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday that China stands ready to work with Myanmar's new government to strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance political mutual trust and deepen strategic cooperation to deliver more practical outcomes in building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future and to help Myanmar accelerate development.

Wang made the remarks as he met with his Myanmar counterpart Tin Maung Swe in Beijing.

Wang said that China adheres to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and respects the choices of the Myanmar people. He pledged that China will support Myanmar in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions, advancing its domestic peace and reconciliation, and safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests.

Beijing is willing to work with Nay Pyi Taw to jointly advance high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen cooperation in areas such as post-earthquake reconstruction, people-to-people exchanges, trade and investment, and steadily advance key projects under the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, Wang said.

He called for joint efforts in combating transnational crimes, such as online gambling and telecommunications fraud, to safeguard peace and stability in the China-Myanmar border region.

Tin Maung Swe extended his gratitude for China's long-standing, valuable assistance to Myanmar's economic and social development, and voiced hope that Chinese modernization will bring new opportunities for cooperation to Myanmar and other countries in the region.

Myanmar fully supports the four major global initiatives proposed by China, Tin Maung Swe said, adding that his country firmly upholds the one-China policy, and resolutely opposes any form of "Taiwan independence" separatist activities that undermine regional peace and stability, as well as any external interference in China's internal affairs.

He expressed the new Myanmar government's willingness to strengthen high-level exchanges, advance the construction of the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor, and welcome more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business.

Myanmar will continue to resolutely crack down on online gambling and telecommunications fraud to safeguard the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions and projects, he said.

Tin Maung Swe said the Southeast Asian country looks forward to further strengthening communication and cooperation with China on multilateral platforms, such as the United Nations, ASEAN, and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

The new Myanmar government is committed to advancing the domestic peace process and achieving stable development, and hopes that China will continue to play a constructive role, he added.
