China showcases sustainable innovation at global technology conference in Brussels

Sheng Songwei, director of GIEC's Offshore Energy Research Center, presented the institute's latest achievements in wave energy utilization and integrated offshore energy platforms. He shared China's experience in advancing marine renewable energy technologies and promoting their practical application.

The forum also brought together leading international experts, including Dirk Fransaer of the Royal Academy of Belgium, Elisabetta Tedeschi of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of Trento, and Josep Lloret of Spain's Institute of Marine Sciences. Participants exchanged views on marine science, climate adaptation, and international cooperation in ocean-related technologies.

Beyond academic discussions, the event highlighted efforts to translate scientific research into practical industrial applications. Researchers from GIEC presented progress in converting solid waste into high-value products, demonstrating how innovation can contribute to green growth and the circular economy.
