All parties should "uphold respect for the diversity of civilizations as the foundation to consolidate global consensus on mutual learning among civilizations", said a Chinese think tank report released on Wednesday in Beijing.

On the occasion of the second International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, the China Institute of International Studies released the report titled "China's Actions for Advancing Global Dialogue Among Civilizations".

"More than ever, the power of civilization must be harnessed to address the challenges of the times and promote world peace and development," the report said.

It urges various parties to "break down cultural barriers by seeking harmony without uniformity, connect hearts and minds through openness and inclusiveness, and eliminate misunderstandings through dialogue and exchanges".

China first proposed the Global Civilization Initiative in 2023. The report said the country "stands ready to join hands with the international community to fully implement the Global Civilization Initiative and pool civilizational strength for building a community with a shared future for humanity".
