China is ready to work with other countries to implement the Global Governance Initiative and jointly tackle global poverty reduction challenges, a senior official said on Wednesday.

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, said the initiative puts people's well-being at the center and contributes Chinese wisdom and solutions to development cooperation and poverty reduction efforts around the world.

Zhao made the remarks at a news conference held by China's State Council Information Office for the release of a white paper titled "More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China's Principles, Proposals and Actions".

China has practiced multilateralism and worked to improve the global poverty reduction governance framework, Zhao said. Together with 53 countries and nine international organizations, China launched the Global Partnership for Poverty Reduction and Development, which has helped turn poverty reduction experience into global public goods and injected new momentum into global poverty reduction, he said.

China has also taken action-oriented measures to promote joint efforts on poverty alleviation, Zhao said.

The country established the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund and increased its funding to $4 billion, he said, noting that more than 200 projects have been carried out in over 70 countries, benefiting more than 40 million people.

In another example of China's development cooperation, Juncao technology has created hundreds of thousands of jobs in more than 100 countries, Zhao added.

China has also stepped up foreign technical assistance and training to help strengthen the internal driving force for poverty reduction, he said.

According to Zhao, during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, China implemented more than 7,000 foreign aid training programs, training 230,000 governance personnel and technical professionals.

These efforts have strongly supported other countries in exploring poverty reduction and sustainable development paths suited to their own national conditions, he added.
