China confirms two Japanese citizens detained

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun confirmed on Wednesday that two Japanese citizens have been detained in accordance with the law by authorities for "violating Chinese laws".

"The Chinese side has briefed the Japanese side on the details of the case," he said at a daily news briefing in Beijing.

"We would like to emphasize that the Japanese side should educate and remind Japanese citizens and companies in China to comply with Chinese laws and regulations," Guo added.
