Beijing urges Washington to stop listing Chinese firms as military companies

China has urged the United States to immediately stop its wrongful practice of placing Chinese companies on the so-called Chinese military company list and to work with Beijing to uphold a constructive bilateral relationship of strategic stability, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

China launched on Monday a pair of countermeasures against the US, placing 10 US entities on an export control list while barring government agencies from purchasing products from 46 others.

These measures aimed to "safeguard national security and interests" and "fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation", and are a direct response to Washington's malicious addition to the so-called Chinese military company list, He Yadong, a spokesman for the ministry, said at a news conference.

China has no choice but to take countermeasures, and the US companies targeted are all military-related entities, He noted.
