The world's only Louis Vuitton "The Louis" conceptual landmark, unveiled in June 2025, has celebrated its first anniversary in the West Nanjing Road business district of Shanghai's Jing'an district.
Over the past year, the landmark has driven a 61 percent year-on-year jump in total consumption in surrounding areas, attracting tourists from 106 countries who completed departure tax-refund purchases, according to the data provided by the district.
Foot traffic and media impact have both seen robust growth. The West Nanjing Road business district now records over 500,000 daily visitors, with overseas visitor volume rising 43.1 percent year-on-year. HKRI Taikoo Hui, where the landmark is located, welcomes 80,000 to 100,000 daily visitors, and total consumption across the district has increased 15.7 percent year-on-year.
It has accelerated West Nanjing Road's transformation from a traditional high-end shopping hub into a world-class consumption ecosystem with deep integration of culture, commerce, tourism, sports and exhibitions, powered by dual engines of luxury and technology, according to the district.
Since the landmark's launch, Jing'an has debuted 262 high-end stores, including two global debuts, three Asian debuts and 41 national debuts.
The district has also deepened cross-sector consumption connectivity via ticket stub economy model, connecting shopping malls, hotels and resources across culture, commerce, tourism, sports and exhibition sectors. The model converts exhibition and performance visitors into district-wide consumers, while expanding integrated scenarios such as nighttime consumption.
