Beijing issued its first citywide hail alert of the year on Friday afternoon, warning that scattered hail could affect parts of the capital and potentially cause damage.
The Beijing Meteorological Service said hail is expected to move from the northwest to the southeast of the city, with urban areas likely to be affected mainly between around 7 pm and 8 pm. The weather may cause damage, and residents are advised to take precautions.
Thunderstorms may be accompanied by short-term gusts above Force 7 and small hail, disrupting the evening rush hour.
Yellow alerts for lightning, strong winds, high temperatures, and hail are currently in effect across the capital.
