Three people have been confirmed dead after torrential rains battered Fushun city in Liaoning province from the early hours of Saturday.
Between 1 am and 7 am, the city recorded an average rainfall of 106 millimeters, with a maximum precipitation of 329.2 mm. The hourly, three-hour, and six-hour rainfall intensities all surpassed historical extremes, setting new records, Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday.
In response, authorities evacuated 3,596 residents from high-risk areas to safe shelters.
Despite the severe impact, officials said social order and daily life in the city are gradually returning to normal as relief efforts continue.
