Eyeing upgrading urban renewal models for a better future, the CCCC Urban Industry Alliance was established at a conference held on Monday in Shanghai's Qingpu district, which has been accelerating its urban renewal efforts with a new model observing the future.

The alliance is initiated by the CCCC Urban Investment Holding Co Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). Aiming to build platforms, pool resources, leverage strength and promote shared-growth, it focuses on core areas such as comprehensive urban development, urban renewal, industry-city integration, industrial operations, low-carbon and green initiatives, as well as smart operations.

By integrating resources across the entire industrial chain, from investment, construction, planning and design, to operation, financing, scientific research and development, the alliance provides cities with one-stop, comprehensive solutions ranging from top-level design to on-the-ground implementation.

At the conference, the alliance also unveiled its Shanghai center, industrial investment promotion platform in Qingpu district's Huaxin town, and its overseas service stations in Thailand and Malaysia. A first batch of over 100 members joined the alliance, involving extensively industries such as governments, platforms, industry enterprises, financial institutions, and research institutions.

The alliance saw a new full-cycle district renewal model as its core. The model views the city as an organic living entity, and coordinates eight major systems, namely transportation, ecology, energy, industry, health, water networks, culture and digital infrastructure. It aims to chart a new path for regional development that highlights urban renewal as the driving force, industry-city integration as the core, basic livelihood support as the safety net, digital and low-carbon technologies as enablers, and cultural and ecological elements as the soul.

A project in the Fengxi area in Qingpu district's Huaxin town is expected to become the demonstration of such a new model. Leveraging the dual advantages of the Hongqiao International hub and the cultural heritage of the Jiangnan water towns, the area is speeding up its transformation from an urban village to a "city of the future".

In this area, transportation connectivity is continuously optimized, rivers and parks are increasing, green energy systems are taking shape, high-tech firms are gathering in clusters, and more facilities supporting people's smart livelihood and cultural demands are under construction.
