Rather than relying solely on action and visual spectacle, the film uses satire to explore everyday realities. Several standout scenes lampoon workplace culture, drawing laughter from audiences while prompting reflection on issues such as office politics, social etiquette and how many young professionals gradually sacrifice their ideals in order to please their superiors.

Since opening in domestic theaters on July 3, the film has earned nearly 90 million yuan ($13.3 million) at the domestic box office, according to industry tracker Beacon.

Speaking at a promotional event in Beijing earlier this month, writer-director Xing Wenxiong said the film's central theme lies in the tension between individuality and conformity. While everyone hopes to remain true to themselves and live on their own terms, he noted, the pressures of everyday life often compel people to compromise and adapt to social expectations.

"It is precisely this conflict between staying true to oneself and fitting into the world that the film seeks to explore," Xing said.

Bai, who described the role as a fresh and challenging experience, said he hopes the film will bring audiences both strength and joy.
