China urged the United States on Thursday to stop using Xizang-related issues to interfere in China's internal affairs, after the US State Department called on China to resume dialogue with the 14th Dalai Lama.
Speaking at a daily news briefing on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that Xizang affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no foreign country has the right to interfere.
"We urge the US side to abide by its commitment of recognizing Xizang as part of China and not supporting 'Xizang independence', and to stop using Xizang-related issues to interfere in China's internal affairs," she said.
Mao said at a news briefing on August 2024 that the 14th Dalai Lama is not a religious figure but a political exile engaged in anti-China separatist activities under the cloak of religion.
