China opposes attacks on civilian facilities in Middle East

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry has said China opposes attacks on civilian facilities in the Middle East and calls for disputes in the region to be resolved through political and diplomatic means.

Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular news conference on Monday in response to reports that Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia had come under attack. The Saudi Defense Ministry had earlier said it had intercepted an incoming missile.

"The sovereignty and security of Saudi Arabia and other countries should be respected," Lin said.

China calls on relevant parties to resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means and create conditions for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region, he added.
