The development of artificial intelligence in China is the result of high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday, while expressing opposition over politicizing and instrumentalizing trade and tech issues.
The ministry's spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks after United States President Donald Trump's science and technology adviser Michael Kratsios accused China's Moonshot AI of a "large scale effort to steal the capabilities of top US AI models".
Such moves will only disrupt global AI development and serve no one's interests, Lin said.
AI development in China is also fueled by the country's vision, which emphasizes extensive consultations and joint contributions for shared benefit, he said.
All countries should take a people-centered approach and promote the open and inclusive development of AI for good and for all, Lin added.
