Human remains found at Pengshui landslide site in Chongqing, DNA tests underway

Human remains have been discovered inside and around the wreckage of a passenger minibus at the site of a recent landslide in Chongqing's Pengshui Miao and Tujia autonomous county. The discovery was made following extensive searches and technical analysis, with DNA testing currently underway to confirm identities, according to the rescue headquarters on Monday.

The devastating landslide, which occurred on July 17, buried residential buildings and has resulted in 11 confirmed deaths, 10 injuries, and 50 people still missing, the rescue headquarters announced on Thursday night. By Friday night, controlled blasting of unstable rocks had been conducted to widen the search area, leading to the recovery of three more victims' bodies. Search efforts are ongoing across the affected area.

Since the disaster, rescue teams have been working around the clock on comprehensive operations, including clue collection, on-site information registration, field investigations, and technical analyses. These efforts form part of a systematic approach to locate the missing. Despite multiple rounds of searches, no signs of life have been detected, as announced by the headquarters on Thursday night.
