China blasts US import ban on humanoid robots

By ZHANG YUNBI | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2026-07-29 16:21

In response to the United States' import ban on humanoid robots, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Wednesday that China "will continue to take necessary measures and resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies."

The Federal Communications Commission in the US has announced a ban on foreign-made humanoid robots, mainly targeting China, over national security concerns, The Associated Press reported.

At a daily news briefing in Beijing, Mao said China has consistently and firmly opposed the US practice of overstretching the concept of national security to suppress Chinese companies.

"Protectionism will not enhance the competitiveness of the US, but will only harm the interests of American companies and consumers," she added.
