China responds to Germany's alleged study of trade vulnerabilities

In response to media reports that Germany is allegedly studying China's vulnerabilities for a potential trade war, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Wednesday that both sides should strengthen communication and cooperation and achieve common development.

Bloomberg News reported that Germany is mapping out vulnerabilities in China's supply chains that could serve as leverage in a possible trade war with China.

In a response, Mao said that in the era of economic globalization, it is perfectly normal for countries' industries to have mutual needs and demands.

"China and Germany are comprehensive strategic partners, and mutual benefit and win-win outcomes form the foundation of China-Germany cooperation," she said at a daily press conference in Beijing.

"Both sides should strengthen communication and cooperation, achieve common development, jointly safeguard the stability and smooth operation of global production and supply chains, and promote global development and prosperity," Mao said.
