China's top court has underscored the critical importance of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of military personnel, calling for enhanced legal support to bolster national defense and advance military modernization.
On Friday, the Supreme People's Court released details of four landmark cases, highlighting the necessity of resolving military disputes. It reaffirmed that protecting the lawful rights of military staff is pivotal to safeguarding national interests and ensuring military stability.
The disclosed cases address significant judicial issues related to military rights, including the protection of military land, restructuring of defense industry firms, safeguarding veterans' interests, and providing legal aid to service members and their families.
The top court stated that the release of these cases aims to establish clear judicial standards, raise public awareness about national defense, and strengthen the long-standing unity between military and civilian sectors.
In one notable case, a military-industrial enterprise with defense qualifications and contracted production tasks encountered operational difficulties. The local court effectively utilized bankruptcy laws and procedures to facilitate the company's restructuring and recovery. This approach preserved the enterprise's valuable defense qualifications and key production assets, restored its military production capabilities, and promoted its development toward higher quality and innovation, thereby reinforcing judicial safeguards for equipment support.
