Orders for "Tiger Head Bags" from a Duoxiu embroidery heritage shop in Guyuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, skyrocketed nearly 100-fold after tech billionaire Elon Musk and his young son drew widespread attention by carrying the same bag earlier this year, according to heritage inheritor and shop owner Gao Guangjuan.
Supported by Fujian-Ningxia cooperation funds, the embroidery project has employed over 4,000 rural women skilled in this traditional craft right at their doorsteps, distributing more than 15 million yuan ($2.22 million) in wages last year, Gao reported.
In the first half of this year alone, the shop's revenue has already exceeded 20 million yuan. Gao added, "Foreign visitors like our products very much. This is the beauty of our ethnic culture."
