3 people killed in Liaoning workplace accident

Three people died as a result of accidental poisoning in Jianping county in Liaoning province, according to a notice released by the Liaoning Provincial Work Safety Committee on Friday.

The notice stated that the accident happened at Xinlongtai Animal Husbandry Co Ltd in Chaoyang city on the evening of Aug 5, when the workers were operating the valve of the liquid accumulation tank near a septic tank.

According to the Measures for Supervision and Handling of Major Accidents in Liaoning Province, a committee is reviewing the handling of the accident.

Authorities in Chaoyang are required to promptly organize an accident investigation in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and rules, the notice read.

The notice added that city authorities must quickly ascertain the cause of the accident and strictly follow the requirements of the accident investigation regulations to propose handling recommendations.
