Residential building partially collapses in Shijiazhuang's Xinhua district

A residential building partially collapsed in Shijiazhuang's Xinhua district, Hebei province, early Wednesday morning, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and sending an unknown number of people to the hospital, according to a statement from the district's emergency management bureau.

The statement confirmed that the incident occurred at about 5:42 am. Police, firefighters, housing and urban-rural development personnel, and emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the scene for rescue and relief operations.

The bureau did not immediately provide a count of the injured, saying in its statement that rescue operations were underway and that the cause of the collapse remains under investigation. The injured have been transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Follow-up arrangements are being carried out in an orderly manner.
