Zhang Deguang, former deputy head of the standing committee of the People's Congress in Beijing's Daxing district, was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Thursday by a court in the capital for accepting bribes.
In addition to the prison sentence, Zhang was fined 2 million yuan ($297,442). His illicit gains and relevant interests were confiscated and ordered to be turned over to the State treasury, according to the ruling by the Beijing No 2 Intermediate People's Court.
No further details, such as the amount of bribes he accepted, were released.
Public records indicate that Zhang, 62, a Beijing native, began his career in January 1984 and joined the Communist Party of China in November 1990. He held various positions in Daxing before being placed under disciplinary and supervisory investigation at the beginning of 2025.
