Miaohang Town in Shanghai's Baoshan district kicked off its 2026 fashion consumption season on Friday, rolling out an industrial development roadmap, launching a fashion alliance with leading enterprises, and forging academic partnerships to build a core fashion consumption destination in northern Shanghai.
The consumption season comprises three major sections. A pre-launch romance event featured wedding-themed experiences, traditional style fairs and trendy social activities. Running from Aug 21 to 23, a luxury fashion showcase brings together high-end watches, gold jewelry and designer apparel with promotional discounts. A concurrent sustainable market combines pre-owned item recycling, upcycled creative products, intangible heritage experiences, eco-friendly dining and pet-friendly zones to enrich nighttime consumption options.
Under Miaohang Town's newly released fashion industry development plan, the area will focus on four priority areas: sustainable fashion, tech-driven fashion, niche youth fashion, and romance-themed consumption, while fostering a variety of complementary businesses.
It will leverage leading enterprises including cellphone recycler Aihuishou, e-commerce giant JD.com, local fashion brand XHANGE, jewelry brand Mingr and Unitree Robotics to integrate sectors such as pre-owned luxury circulation, trendy apparel and gold jewelry.
At the launch event, seven industry leaders jointly founded the Miaohang Fashion Alliance to pool industrial resources and boost cross-sector collaboration. Miaohang also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tongji University to deepen industry-university-research collaboration in low-carbon development, the circular economy and technology commercialization.
Local authorities said the town will continue implementing its three-year fashion industry development plan, scale up its core sectors and industrial clusters, and advance Baoshan district's "northern transformation" strategy to build a diverse and dynamic fashion consumption landmark in northern Shanghai.
